Silver Spring Md Famous People’s Houses – Lewis Black’s House

Childhood home of Lewis N. Black, grammy award winner, comedian and playwright

ThisDSC00406 house was built in 1953 and Lewis Black’s parents were the original owners. Born in 1948, Lewis was raised in this modest 3 Bedroom, 1 Bath Brick Rambler with an unfinished basement, located in the Burnt Mills Knolls subdivision of Silver Spring, Md zip code 20903.  Black probably attended Burnt Mills Elementary School or possibly Cresthaven Elementary School within walking distance of this house. He most likely attended Eastern or White Oak Junior High School (anyone know for sure which one?) Lewis graduated from Springbrook High School in 1966.  Black’s parents Samuel and Jeanette lived in this home up until the time they sold it in August of 2001.  More about Black and his MySpace Page.
Some Lewis Black quotes about Silver Spring:
Tells people he lives in Washington D.C., “because he thinks anyone from Silver Spring, Maryland is a pussy.”

“Its only claim to fame is that it’s the largest unincorporated city in America. In other words, we were too lazy to govern ourselves. The town motto was, ‘I’d like to vote, but I don’t feel like driving.'” – Lewis Black

Silver Spring, Md Sligo Creek Park – Changes Proposed for Sligo Golf Course and Other Park Facilities

The Montgomery County Revenue Authority has proposed changes to the Sligo Creek Golf Golf SignCourse.  They want to add a lighted tiered driving range and a minature golf course ( but not a “tacky” or  “carnival” type course) The neighboring community is NOT Happy about the changes and has rejected the planned changes. Read the Washington Post Article from last week. Not everyone is opposed to the minature golf course at the Sligo Creek Location, a noted Silver Spring Blogger and native of Silver Spring “Sligo” has a different opinion about this.

If you want to have some input in what happens in and to our parks – Show up at this forum and comment or give written testimony.  I know I will be there lobbying for my pet project, the much needed off-leash DOG PARK in Silver Spring!
