Rustic Rural Woods – Springbrook Forest Neighborhood Silver Spring Md 20902

road in springbrook forestA rustic wooded neighborhood with 1+ acre lots. The Springbrook Forest neighborhood has a rare, uncommon setting for homes in the bustling Silver Spring area.  With all the mature tall trees, no streetlights and no sidewalks the community still has that a rural feeling.  There are  just a few roads in Springbrook Forest, they are “long and winding roads”, like a road through a deep Enchanted Forest.  This is a neighborhood for people who are serious nature lovers and want a guiet, private setting for their home yet still have the convenience of being close to transportation, shopping, good schools and a Metro Station!

Part of the Kemp Mill Area, Springbrook Forest is a unique subdivision tucked away off of Kemp Mill Road in a forested area that is surrounded by Northwest Branch Park.

Springbrook Forest was subdivided in the 1950’s by George J Moss. His idea was for people to build their own custom homes on these beautiful heavily wooded acre plus lots.

Most of the homes in Springbrook Forest reflect the contemporary mid century modern style most popular in the mid 1950’s through the 1960’s and were custom built.
Parts of Springbrook Forest are still on Septic Systems.  Springbrook Forest is on acreage that was originally a MICA Mine in the Kemp Mill Area.

There are 119 lots in Springbrook Forest.

There are only 2-6 Home Sales in Springbrook Forest every year.  In 2015 there were 4 Home Sales ranging in price from a low of $460,000 to a high of $740,000.

The Paczki are at The Woodmoor Bakery!

Paczki-PaczkisThe Tuesday before Lent the time to indulge or Fatten up before tightening belts and giving up things for Lent, which starts on Ash Wednesday.  It is the Fat Tuesday associated with Mardi Gras and it is the Shrove Tuesday associated with Pancake Suppers or Pancake Day.

Tuesday February 9th is also Paczki Day, a Polish tradition of making and eating Paczki the day before Lent starts.

The best place to get Paczki in Silver Spring, is at the Woodmoor Bakery/Pastry Shop in the Woodmoor Shopping Center at Four Corners.  They make the most divine, decadent Paczki anywhere in the area.  They are the filled, rolled in powdered sugar type paczki and they are GOOD.

Here’s Hoping the Paczki are plentiful, there is no long line and they don’t run out!

Check out reviews of the Bakery and the Paczki at the Woodmoor Pastry Shop.
